Things are changing quickly, and it’s easy to become confused or anxious. Please be assured that our GPs and Allied Health professionals are here to ensure you receive the medical care you need, in whatever capacity you need it.
GPs can now offer telehealth and phone consults to all patients, with face to face appointments available to those who require it.
Please note that patients not registered with Medicare will be required to pay for their consultation in full (over the phone).
We ask that you book online via our Bookings tab, or call the clinic to discuss.
Medicare rebated Allied Health telehealth appointments are available for eligible patients. Please call the clinic to discuss eligibility.
Cape Byron Medical Centre has implemented a strict Coronavirus screening processes to divert those at risk away from the clinic and to authorised testing centres.
If you’ve returned from overseas travel or had contact with someone who has in the last 14 days, do not book or attend your appointment. Call the clinic for advice.
If you are experiencing flu like symptoms, please stay at home and call the clinic for advice.
Also, to reduce risk of infection, we ask that wherever possible, patients attend the practice on their own, unless you require assistance or support from a family member or friend.
Please be assured the safety of patients and staff is always our priority. We are receiving daily, up-to-date information and will continue to respond to the changing situation.
If you have questions or concerns, please call us on 6685 6326, Byron Bay Hospital or HealthDirect on 1800 022 222.
While this is a situation that calls for caution, we urge everyone to remain calm and be confident that you can access our primary health care professionals safely and conveniently.

At this stage I am still seeing patients in person at Cape Byron Medical Centre, per the recommendations of the Minister for Health Greg Hunt,” Nicola says.
I would like to reassure you that all patients are screened for recent travel, contact with a covid-19 case, and symptoms of the virus before attending their appointments.
The clinic has an escalated cleaning policy and is engaging social distancing recommendations.
In addition, I personally clean all surfaces in the room with hospital grade disinfectant at the start and finish of every day and clean the surfaces and equipment used after each and every patient.
Hands are washed and sanitised at the beginning and end of every appointment and often during the appointment as well.
There are a number of acute injuries that can be treated by Physio/hand therapy that can take the pressure off of the hospitals.
If you have a finger, hand, wrist, forearm related condition and feel that you need treatment please make contact.
If you feel that person to person treatment is not for you at this time, there are telehealth options available.
There is funding available for telehealth, for patients who are under Workcover or CTP, for NDIS (self-managed fund), and for patients who have an EPC from their GP.
At this stage there is some funding from private health funds from 14 April. We have no news from the DVA at this stage.
If person to person appointments are advised to cease by the Health Minister, I will continue online/telehealth appointments.
Please get in touch if you have any queries or concerns.
I look forward to helping you recover from your finger, hand, wrist, forearm injury in the coming months.
